What is OneNote?
Looking for a tool to digitise any classroom - then this is a tough one to beat!
This software is FREE, available on any platform and is continually being updated by the product team informed by feedback from the educator community
What can be quite confusing is that there are currently 5 x differing 'versions' of OneNote:
OneNote Windows 10 - comes built in as part of the new Windows 10 operating system
OneNote 2016 - part of the Office 2016 package
OneNote Online - an online lightweight version of the application
OneNote Class Notebooks - (O365 education needed) A collection of Notebooks that can be used within classrooms
OneNote Staff Notebooks - (O365 education needed) A collection of Notebooks that can be used with staff members for PLNs, planners etc.
Where do I start?
If you have never used OneNote before, I would suggest setting up a standalone notebook and use it as you personal organiser for a number of weeks before trying to use this tool with fellow colleagues or students.
When you are confident in using the tool, then you can introduce it to your colleagues and use in in your lessons effectively.
You will find a lot of useful resources in the next session, but I'd highly recommend signing up for a FREE Microsoft Educator Community account and to check out the following FREE courses:
